    Default 119’s for sidemount?

Didn’t want to highjack DanSledge’s post in the Gear Exchange Forum.

Will Worthington 119’s make good sidemount tanks? What are the pros and cons?

I’m thinking about breaking down a set for sidemount. It’s time for hydro and I will be breaking them down soon. If not then I will probably put them up for sell. Compared to my Fabers they are quite a bit heavier.

I haven't dove the Worthingtons, but some of the Fabers can tend to get a bit light if they're breathed down pretty far. Even with nearly empty tanks you still want to be able to be a little negative.

The length of the tank relative to your height can be more critical for sidemount in trying to get it trimmed out because they tend to sit a little farther back. I find the E8 130's or the Faber 104's are just about perfect for me, but some folks a little shorter like the 95's for instance.

I'm using Worthington LP95s, like em alot... I'd love em if they were fabers though.

I use lp85's, PST 119's (3442psi), and Faber lp95's. The 95's do get light, but only in the last third or so. I added 3lb weights to each tank on the cam band to prevent being too light at the end of a dive that required dipping into the last third. I tried a set of worthington 120's cause they are skinny tanks, but they were too long for me. I tried 130's once, but they were too long and too fat!

In sidemount you don't have that steel backplate (or aluminum) so heavier tanks might be needed to avoid adding weight to your rig.

UH, that is 70% helium, and 6% O2. Look at his avatar, he dives a rebreather. He just flipped the numbers.
