Only Luxfer Aluminum Tanks. (well, Davis Kidde tanks too) original hydro prior to 1988-89 with various beliefs about the exact month. But everyone agrees by 1990 they no longer used the 6351 alloy. I decided to get rid of mine, although they passed hydro and the visual eddy III inspection (both at hydro facility and at the LDS where I do tank inspections sometimes to help out). However, the LDS still fills them as long as in hydro and viz.

I knew when I made my post that I would get raked for the comment. Probably cause I'm not a well known regular poster. To answer the moderators question, I don't fill tanks for minimum but when I do fill tanks I do place them in a protective cylinder and stand at the correct distance. According to data available online, out of 30 million 6351 alloy tanks there have been 17 failuers. These failures have been attributed to repeated overfilling and mishandling but dive shops. Older tanks must be visual eddyed to reveal SLC. Sorry if i've made bad comments. I'll go back to lurking.

I don't think Sludge meant his comments as a moderator.
These tanks Passed VE in September of 2010. That is also when the last Visual was done (both by the hydro facility, as required by the DOT, and by the dive shop, to make an extra $10 'cus I'm a sucker). So the visual is good for another month, not expiring this month like I stated.

VE or not, in hydro or not, I will not fill a 6351. Even at odds of 17 out of 30 million, who says that one tank won't be number 18!
I was not trying to stifle debate; I just said I won't fill one. Feel free to voice your opinion on ANYTHING here on the CDF.
BTW, that 17 out of 30,000,000. Most of those cylinders are out of service and have been for years.

Okay, anything cave diving-related.

Well you should have been more specific.
As for the tanks, I am sure they are worth that to someone to make lamps or mailboxes out of.
