    Talking Awesome Domain Name: CAVEDIVING.US

    DOMAIN NAME: CAVEDIVING.US

Ok.. so I have had this domain name since 2004. I was going to use it to develop a really cool website about cave diving but never got around to it.

I have put it up for sale because I am retiring from cave diving and will not be needing it any longer. As a side note I will be posting a lot of gear for sale soon including scooters, camera gear, tanks, etc. So check back here in a few days for my posts.

    Anyhow....

Other than cavediving.com or cavediving.net nothing says "cave diving" more then cavediving.us

I have listed it for sale on ebay for a penny ($0.01) so whomever wants it go bid on it.

    It is located here:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250853830474

I put it on ebay because it is the easiest way for me to manage the sale.

    Thanks!

Wish you the best of luck but nothing ".us" means anything like ".com" or even .net & .org for that matter in the Internet 'world'..
Nice thing about bidding is you will (hopefully) get what it is worth.

Actually, there is really no difference between a *.com and *.us other than who can register/own them respectively. A *.com is a 'generic Top Level Domain' (gTLD) that can be registered by anyone of any country (hence - generic). A *.us is a 'country code Top Level Domain' (ccTLD) and registration is often restricted and requires proof of residency in the country for which it's being registered; in this case the U.S.

Either way, they are both Top Level Domains and equally desirable. The disconnect is that common practice is to go for the *.com because that's what we're all used to. At the end of the day it comes down to the site. I've seen plenty of crappy sites on *.org's, *.net's, etc.

Sorry if I hijacked your thread

Unfortunately, the internet is alot like real estate where location, location, location is the primary selling factor. When is the last time you saw USOlympics.us or google.us or apple.us or Microsoft.us or Ford.us or etc.etc.etc. To be honest, I can't think of a time EVER that I have typed in a .us address.

Anyway, I'm sorry to hear you are getting out of cave diving.

Some of the top companies buy the .US domain so that others cant and redirect it to the .com address. One Example Walmart. They just dont advertize the .us address.

Yes, I did that for a few extensions for 'dayo.com', ie: http://dayo.us/ Brett's cavediving.us is a good domain name.
