While flipping through the latest issue of TP&W magazine that arrived in my mailbox yesterday, I noticed something I never expected to see in that magazine...an article on cave diving:

Cool story.. Being from Texas (Lubbock) I have always wondered if there were any significant caves that could be dove in. My uncle who has a ranch in south texas has told me there are many Caverns, possible caves at Lake Amastad. I think my wife and I are going to drive back for our next visit and take our gear, do a little exploring for the week. Thanks for the post, it was a good read.

Thats awesome. Its so close to me yet so far. I know a couple of people who have dove it,but they know the owner pretty well. There are a few small caves at Lake Amistad and of course Good enough springs at the bottom of the lake. Currently its beyond my skill level though. The entrance sits at 170ft and then a SM restriction at about 200ft not to far inside the cave. Unfortunately its the only underwater cave I know of in Texas that open to the public.
Heres another pretty cool picture of Jacobs Well.
