Default Cannonball cave, Missouri June 2011

Kal and I dove cannonball yesterday(6-23-11). We used the hill and my 2 wheel cart to move our gear as sort of an experiment. It worked great! We tied a couple of hundred feet of rope to the cart and pulled it back up with the van. All I had to do is just guide it and give instructions over walkie-talkie. Conditions were as follows: vis in the lake-0, vis in the cave-25 ft. Lake temp.-80degrees,temp.in the cave-56degrees, line conditions- Ed was there with 2 students and deepdiverbob and they repaired the gold line in the entrance restriction and the line looked good down to 150 ft. I still have no first hand report that the line break at 270ft. has been repaired but hope to have that info. soon. Also, the gravel road up to the shore entrance is in terrible condition after the spring flood, but can be traversed by a 2 wheel drive vehicle if you have a little ground clearance.

Thanks for the report. Sure wish I could have had the day off yesterday to join y'all. I can't wait to swim through the entrance restriction as a Side Mount diver! I do hope they redo the gravel road before my next trip there, though, with my little Scion XB (very little ground clearance!).

Slim, we'll all be glad when your house is done so you can dive more!

Thanks for the report - sounds like a good time.

Hi mike, the flow is down considerably from what it was two weeks ago when we went, although I did still have to put my foot on the ceiling of the restriction and push my way in at the tightest point as I was carrying my Al bottle as well as a 40 of 50 percent. The lake is about back to normal pool stage with the entrance at 38 ft. right now.
