*** Virus / Trojan Horse ALERT ***

One nice thing about running my email on a Unix machine is that I'm immune to that crap. I can extract something without running it, have a look, etc.

I NEVER run an executable anything that comes via email. Never. There's no reason to do so. And I rarely, if ever, will run a URL "blind".

There are reasons to love character-mode mail readers. This is one of them.

That's what it did to my computer. Once I got it, Symantec took over a week for their Engineers to come up with an update to stop it. Problem is now. I will still have to reformat my drive. Damage already done is irreversible. Not to mention that the web page showing the information does show everything that it does.

It came as a Trojan horse attached through a file that I emailed to myself from another computer. Last time I do that.

Hmm. Well, at least this one *exists*, but it's not nearly as bad as you make out.

I recommend checking securityresponse.symantec.com before forwarding on any virus information. Most times, you find it's completely fake.

C'mon Dwain, I would have thought that you of all people would have known better than that. Scan everything, incoming and outgoing, and hope that you have all the latest updates

All of my files via disk and mail is automaticly scanned. Problem is... it was a Trojan. Imbeded in another file that was not even an .exe file. It sucks. I'll have to get my mac back up on line. TRhe only reason that I even use a PC is due to a school contract with the government.
