Default *** Virus / Trojan Horse ALERT ***

    firewall_anti.exe is the name
    havoc is the game
    embedded in attachments.

Currently there is a virus/Trojan horse that is spreading. It won't allow you to do windows up dates, turns off virus protection, sends out emails after searching through your address book, won't allow the computer to start in safe mode and opens the firewall for attacks.

This one isn't to be taken lightly. This is a major problem all over the country at this time. Do not open any attachments that you do not already know what they are.

Keep your virus software up to date and scan any and all attachments via email and also scan all files on a disk before use.

There is no fix for this except to reformat your drive.

There is no patch for human stupidity.

Users have been told for YEARS to not open attachments from anyone unless scanned. Especially EXE files.

If someone bypasses ALL existing warnings, well, you kinda just got to let them make that mistake...

    Default Kaspersky Labs

    Dwaine,
Here is the url for a Russian Anti-Virus program that seems fairly good. I took both Norton & McAffee completely off my network, as they don't even compare to Kaspersky-!

If someone is trying to hack my system or sending a loaded e-mail, I simply run this application. Ck it out.
    take care

Hmm. Well, at least this one *exists*, but it's not nearly as bad as you make out.

I recommend checking securityresponse.symantec.com before forwarding on any virus information. Most times, you find it's completely fake.

    Stu,

That's what it did to my computer. Once I got it, Symantec took over a week for their Engineers to come up with an update to stop it. Problem is now. I will still have to reformat my drive. Damage already done is irreversible. Not to mention that the web page showing the information does show everything that it does.

It came as a Trojan horse attached through a file that I emailed to myself from another computer. Last time I do that.

C'mon Dwain, I would have thought that you of all people would have known better than that. Scan everything, incoming and outgoing, and hope that you have all the latest updates
