Ummm do it old skool!

Leave the key fob at home and just use the old fashioned no frills key!

The only problem with "door only" keys is that some cars with electronic key fobs (including mine)
REFUSE to lock their doors if a key fob is inside the car. Probably to prevent dweebs from
locking their keys in the car.

I HAVE to lock my electronic key outside the the car, or the car will refuse to lock.

Many newer car only have fobs or the remote is built into the key. I know this is the case on honda, mazda, and bmw. Probably many others too.

Mine doesn't even use a "key". The remote has a plastic rectangle that turns the ignition.

don't these morons realize it would be better for them to just steal what's in the car? i mean.... the actual car is a little obvious.

All thieves are morons, or they would know better anyway. They probably don't want/need the contents, but the car parts are pretty easy to fence. It is a lot like stealing air conditioners to get the copper.

There are auto lock boxes other than the hitch type posted.

Most home key lock boxes will not hold a auto key with fob.

There are ones that can be hooked thru the transport tie downs.

Or just buy a Ford with the keypad entry on the door.

What I do is lock my keys in my van and have a key copy without the electronics on me that can still unlock the door manually.

We also use this method. Heather and I each have a set of keys on us for a bit of redundancy. Back in my college days (and for several years after) I had two regular dive buddies. We each had a "wet key ring" with three keys on it--one for each of our vehicles. That way, no matter who drove we all had keys to the truck.

I was diving with a buddy at little river on sat. We must have left before that happened. Thanks for all the great ideas for the keys. It never was a problem until they started making all these electronic keys and crap. I just count myself lucky that I still had my truck and all my dive gear !!!!!

PS. I sure would hate to see what would happen to the dumbass stealing crap if someone caught him in the act in such a secluded location like little river--- someone caught stealing might end up on a missing persons report somewhere
