The first social wasn't on a holiday weekend. It was at Ginnie on July 20, 2002.

The most successful social WAS on a Fourth of July weekend (2003), but it wasn't at Ginnie, it was at Jim Hollis' River Rendezvous.

Woops, sorry if I got that point wrong! One of the other CDF Moderators made that statement, for the July 4th justification, and I just paraphrased it.
