Default Wtb faber 85's or 95's

Just had my set of faber 95's ruined by my local dive shop. Cleaned with Ospho, not rinsed then filled.... took them down to ginnie and almost croaked at the bottom. I guess breathing in phosphoric acid is not the best thing to do! Took them to EE in high springs to get cleaned and after O2 cleaning, tumbling, and more O2 cleaning we still can not get the smell out of the tanks. So not only do I have worthless tanks I now have a 150 dollar bill at EE... FML!

After bitching and moaning at the local shop they agreed to give me 450.00 , not exactly happy with this but figured it's better than nothing.

So to make a long story short I now need a set of doubles. I have a set of bands and a manifold so I just need the tanks.

    Thanks
    TS

Bummer. Not sure how stuck you are on Faber 85s, but there is a great deal here - http://www.cavediver.net/forum/showt...t-hp100-quot-s

Did you consider the smell could be in the manifold?

Actually we were able to get the manifold clean using ultra sonic. If you stick your nose in the tank with the valves off you can smell it.

That is a great deal, looking for lp tanks though.

Just a thought, have you tried tumbling them.

Gdiver, I'm going to hold out a bit longer for some 85's to pop up. If nothing comes up I will give you a shout.
    Thanks

As for tumbling, they have been tumbled twice and O2 cleaned 4 times. I think the Ospho penetrated the steel.

I wonder if you put something like alcohol in the tanks if it would help. The alcohol will evaporate once it is poured out. Such a waste to have two tanks ruined.
