On my exit from Madison this morning, I found a brass clip with several red arrows on it. The name was "RANDY" or intitials "R G" marked on them. I gave them to the park ranger if you want them back.

How was the viz?
Theyre mine. I had them clipped to the back of my bumpcap like a ponytail. Theyve made quite a few dives there but I guess they decided to jump ship. We just did a mainline swim so I didnt miss em. If anyone can remember to pick em up and drop them off with Bill or Kathy in Luraville it would be nice since our trips to Madison are far fewer. Vis was stellar, and flow is down. Without the platform, crowds are few as well. Ranger said attendence was down 75% with non divers since it came down. Thanks.
I think it will be rebuilt. There were several (adults) that said they would not renew their pass because of this. The looks on the kidsfaces wen they arrive at waters edge hasent been pleasant. Im sure divers are to blame but it never affected me so I dont know. They see it gone and new tank racks put in. I guess well see what happens with it.
When I was there in March when they came down the locals were not pleased as mentioned.
Some would still attempt to jump from the rocks and it was freaking me out!
I can understand the liability issues but the platform actually looked safer.
Safety being the main goal and preservation of the park following right up there as well.
As stairman has said I guess we will see what happens.

If I were not a cave diver, but a swimmer, the loss of the jumping platform would keep me away. Just sayin'.
Whoever said money can't buy love never bought a puppy.
What happened to the platform?

The Ranger there[who loves to talk] said the director[some big wigs] daughtr got splahed while on her float and he patitioned to have it removed. Now they are rethinking there actions.
Personally, I loved to do long decos at Madison and watch people fly into the water. There were ahem certain benefits to that once in a while....
Safe diving,
Rich
P.S. Plus I've jumped off there a few times myself during surface intervals and it was a blast!
