Cave Diver Arrow Bring On That Neutralight -- A Request

Given the nature of this post, I'm not too sure if it would go here or in Gear Exchange. So, Forrest or Russell, feel free to move it, if necessary.

Folks: I've just acquired a near like new Dive Rite Nutralight. This is the butt mount (with the original sling) 50 Watt double canister model. It has the adjustable focus, with a 6" reflector. Works great (with 2 new SLA 9 Amp Bats). My question is this. Was there ever a wire screen or "cage" that went over the reflector's outside edge to protect the test tube, light, and reflector surface from dings and scratches? Jeffrey at Dive Rite seemed to think there was but does not have a source. If there was such a critter, does anybody have one that they want to part with (or loan) as I'm gonna start diving with this Baby (at least for some of the time). Just lazy and trying to save a little time in having to fabricate one.

When were these lights made, anyway? Any good "stories" about them? For me, the more lights the better, I say. And if you have passed me anytime lately at Ginnies, you know what I mean!

Nice light, remember them well. I have seen the protector you are talking about, but I think that was done as an after market modification

My first canister light was the predecessor to the Neutralight - the blue aluminum canister. We call it the cowbell light because Dive Outpost used to have one hanging outside to bang on to call up to the house.

What used to bug me was how the bolt snap would clang against the rim of the reflector when walking, so I took some 1/4" surgical tubing and split it down the middle, and installed it on the rim. That was how you could distinguish mine from everyone else's.

I actually have an old Neutralight somewhere at home, but it has the small head that uses a projector bulb.

The protector that you're thinking about was an automotive aftermarket accessory. It was an off-road proctector for 6" round headlights. Try a 4X4 shop. A couple of small holes in the reflector and some tie wraps and "good to go". If you had posted two monthes ago, I had a coulple that went in the trash that I would have given away for free. Actually, I considered offering $50 to someone to take them away. Oh well.

Hehe, just picked on up with a whole bunch of other stuff. Light head looks REALLY EASY to mod and put a LED on a starboard in place of the 50w halogen bulb... was thinking about glassbeading the aluminum case and running it bare.
