Thicker? Not necessairily warmer, but thicker. Here is basically what I am thinking (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/center_of_lift)

Ideally (stability wise) you would want your center of lift above your center of gravity. Adding anything positively buoyant to your body will mean less air in your wing and a lower center of lift. If it goes too low, you get the tendency to turtle... thats my theory at least.

I would think lighter (less air) would make you less prone to roll.

So you ditched your redundant wing and steel tanks to do a dive with good results, but you wont be truly happy till you get your permanant setup tweeked. Then youll decide to go sidemount and be back to square one again.

Sort of. My 104s were off getting hydro'd, but it was more to see how I will trim out in Mexico. Side mount will come, but I can't see a reason to drop back mount entirely... yet.

That can contribute to "turtling". A small wing, filled to capacity, is totally under the tanks, so you are "top heavy". A properly sized wing will only be partially full, and the air will go up along side the tanks, and stabilize you much better.

That may have been part of my problem at Manatee in the 104s. They just didn't look that full on the little bit of film I have of the dives. I sink pretty good as it is, so with all else equal, I would need more air in my wing than most.
