Default New tank racks at Little River?

So being locked out of Little River wasn't *completely* a waste of time. I was talking with Senhor Wyatt about racks/tables @ LR. I know I would sure benefit big from them being available. I'm always in rental cars here since I travel in from out of town. I happen to enjoy LR but not gearing up out of the trunk of a rental car.
So, the point is...he believes we can get 3 setup for $300-$400. I think it's a small price to pay for years of use. I for one would be happy to contribute to the fund to get them done. He informed me that he'd be happy to coordinate getting the work done.
I'll request a poll creation if there's enough interest. Please drop me a note or respond here if you would be interested in donating to the fund. I'm thinking $10-$20/diver if we get enough interest (heck that's only 30-40 people @ $10!).
What do you think? Is it worth it? For me, yes.

@Jim, please correct any misstatement as it of course is unintentional.

I can talk to the WCDC and see if we want to fund one of the benches, gotta meeting coming up in two weeks - not sure of a time frame you're looking for these things. I'm sure I can arrange some people to head out there to help with the actual build/installation as well.

That's great Mat. I'm hoping to see what the interest level is by say the end of the week then collect the funds the following week. Jim will have to check on availability of the builders but if you may be able to help with that too, it's even better.
I'll keep everyone posted as I learn more.

There's one more point to add to this...I've received a few PMs and one of the topics was about steps into the pool itself as it isn't always the easiest to get in and out of the water there (like the community has done at so many other places), especially when the water is low. Is this something to pursue also? I welcome your comments feedback as we try to put this together.

I'm not sure where the steps into the pool would go. The "pool" at Little River is pretty small.

Secondly, we've already got steps (and a ramp for cryin' out loud) down to the water's edge at Little River. What more do you want? Cave diving is a strenuous activity. Those who can't handle getting themselves and their gear in and out of the water at Little River should consider either taking up a more pedestrian pass time, or taking out a gym membership.

I think its great that everyone is donating time and money to this effort at LR.

I had been told by some how primitive Mexico was but was pleasantly surprised how many places had been put up for divers to gear up at most of the sites we visited.

For those visiting Ginnie after memorial day you will see plenty of new tank racks at Devils and one new one at Ginnie.

For those divers who have to dive out of cars instead of trucks or vans it makes things easier and I think that is good. One thing I noticed at Ginnie is they put eye bolts in so feel free to bring bungees to secure tanks. Ginnie had a lot of divers this weekend and the new stand got used a good bit. ( I am guessing the one at Devils did too ) Next weekend I suspect there will be very few divers in the park and wish me luck maintaining my sanity.

Steps at LR might be difficult due to the amount of karst there, and then concrete all over the place... Not an awefull lot of ground fill to sink posts into without doing some actual drilling unless you go down the run.

I don't know how to build the tank racks. Jim Wyatt came out to Madison with them all prefabricated, predrilled, marked and laid out. All we had to do is slap them all together with bolts/screws and a bit of concrete. So maybe an 'assemble' team is more what I think I can help get together, rather than a 'build' team.
