There's a course report on GUE DPV1 that was just posted on SB:
    http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/dir...-columbia.html

This is a rec-level course but should give you some idea of what might be in a DPV course. I'm not sure if the between-the-legs thing is standard teaching or just one instructor's interpretation.

There's a detailed course report on dir-explorers from a few years ago as well.

I also took mine with Dan. Great class, learned alot. I never piloted one before, and Dan had his hands full with me, but I have great skills now thanks to him.

I took mine with Paul Heinerth and it was a great lerning experience. The rigging of the scooter to facilitate emergency exits with a two or three man team, swimming a scooter out, run away scooter drill, and most important emphasis on " reading" the cave to avoid damage. I also recommend SS pined blades that will bend and not break.

I took mine with Nick Leone (Caver95). It was the little things that made things so much easier. We dove a ton and really worked hard on proper technique and streamlining. Great instructor but he's a few thousand miles away at the moment.

Nick is a great guy, but he's Italian, and he leaves an oil slick in the cave that looks like a halocline!
