Maybe a [turn your buddy in for a quick 100 bucks] sign for defaceing anything in the park above or below the water would get more attention.

    Cool Not in O-town !

Not happening every day but this dude was smoking a cigerette at a stop light in front of a local PD Traffic Division officer & then dropped the stub out the window ! Guess what ?
The cop wailed him, lights flashing. Told him to get out of the car & pick the butt up & dispose of it properly. Then he was cited for dumping on a public highway...$500.00 !
That the point..............hit em where it hurts ! IN the wallet !

Keep it up yokels, sooner or later you get caught ! Bank on it !

A bit off topic, but one thing I love about the EAA Airshow in Oshkosh, WI ( I go every summer) is the LACK of litter on the show grounds. The members of Experimental Aircraft Association take pride in treating the entire show grounds as "flight line". There's something special about a show that attracts 750,000 people, and the grounds are spotlessly free of any trash.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Not everyone at that show is an EAA member. There are a lot of volunteers that pick up the trash that others throw down

Stairman I saw the writing as well, it provoked a conversation with my daughter and wife on the issues of preservation and proper care of cave environment!
I also mentioned it to others at Cave Excursions.
I was very saddened by the abuse done to the clay banks in OG and Peacock, WHAT THE HXXL!
    Are people in art class?
At the rate of damage to those systems there is going to have to be a workshop on How to REPAIR clay and restore limestone!
I am not making light of this because I witnessed this and far more last week at almost ALL of the springs I visited!
A sign and an appropriate fine for the defacing of state property needs to be enforced!

If this is what OW divers are doing then they need to be taught differently my wife and daughter knew better but what about the others?
This really is a issue that needs to be opened to the state and NFSA, NSS-CDS, etc.
I also was privy to a display at a spring that was very saddening indeed.
A group of local young adults and or teens were trashing the spring not to mention the behavior which made a impression that it was not safe for divers at all!
My first reaction was to want my 45 with me but I am certain that they were armed as well and it would not have went well.

My family was treated to a real demonstration of what the local youth are like in the Mayo area.
It is sad to explain to your kids that sometimes people do not know what resources they have till they are gone!
Like Telford they will close and become harder to access.

Let's not blame this on OW divers. I've seen graffiti in the cave way beyond anywhere an OW diver would/could go.

I agree Rob and the clay prints are far beyond where OW divers reach.
But I think a sign would HELP at least to educate those who are able to comprehend and a fine would deter those who could at least read.
Folks common sense is dead to most if you have not already came to that conclusion.
Speak to any park ranger in FL which I did last week and they will clearly give you a idea of the issues facing the diving parks.
Very interesting conversations at Madison and Peacock.
I would like to thank all those who volunteer time and sweat to helping maintain the parks and protecting our access to them!

JC Goodwin -- which park(s) did you see the Telford-like display of yahoos? If it was a state park, there is no drinking allowed and these types can be dealt with one way or another.
I have always been amazed at the variety of people that go to springs.
