My guess is that they were brought out by OW diers who thought they were helping. Did you leave them in cavern at the Eye or by the sign at the main line?

Another good reason for additional education for the non-cave crowd. Sign or stickers. I'm thinking of making an additional velcro wrap to go over the bolt snap with "Do Not Remove" on it.

Clay and I had just completed a brief deco in the eye. Then we went down into the cavern zone by the sign near the eye to drop them, not wanting to go back all the way down to the mainline. Never had an issue leaving them there before... But looking forward...

Really did have a great time. Had that trip not already been on the books, I probably would have been at Madison on Sunday w/ my cordless impact tools and seen you there.

Hope we can dive again in the near future.

I've left bottles near there (a bit below the sign) before, but when I've done that I've also had them clipped onto my line. It's not clear whether you ran a line or not. It's still not an excuse for pulling someone else's bottles, but it is possible from some diver's perspective's that bottles sitting in the sand send a slightly different message than bottles clipped on a line.

As for what to put on the tank in additon to the normal MOD markings, I prefer a simpler and more blunt "touch my bottles and I'll effing kill you" approach.

On a rebreather, it helps to just leave the O2 in as a safety. There's a nice hidey hole area in the Eye between 30 and 40 feet as you're coming up on the right hand side. In fact I once lost it there - it took me 20 mins to find it, and I thought I knew where I'd hidden it!!

Thanks Andrew. I'll keep my eye out for a more secure location going forward. BTW, if yours is in the secret spot, would you mind if I moved it somewhere else to make room for mine? I could leave it with Rose...

I have business cards that have a large corner cut off, then laminated in the full square, then used a hole punch to put a hole in the cut out corner so that the card is not compromised that I clip into the bolt snap. The business card has my name, address, etc. as well a "See other side". The other side has a large bold warning:
"If you remove this air supply without authorization, I will demand you are charged with attempted murder!"
I deliberately put my info one side because I am not afraid of backing that claim up...so far I haven't had any issues.
