They chose Li-Po due to the Energy Density >200 wh/kg where LFP is >120 wh/kg
I chose LFP because the Life Cycles >2000 where Li-Po is >500 and SLA is >200, Genesis says there >300.
Also the Magnus is 36v vs the 24v of the UV

There more concerned with the burn time vs life of pack. I went with LFP because of the long life cycle and lower price.

The LFP pack well last at least as twice as long as a Li-Po Pack, and when a Li-Po pack costs $2k
So being that you have to make the weight the same you lose the advantage.

I have discussed these packs with Rodney He has stated that the New SS motor should be uses as there is a possibility of the non SS motor may have problems.
However I have been running the old motor in one of my scooters with no issue.

I have been trying to obtain access to some 45Ah cells, which would allow me to build a 45Ah pack to fit the UV18 and a 90Ah pack to fit the UV26.

However they are only sold to the US Military, their intended use is listed as Missile Launchers, Aircraft, Mini-Subs, Military Hybrid Electric Vehicles, Directed Energy Weapons, Satellites, Electromagnetic Launchers and Underwater Vehicles

    What about these packs?

They have a bunch of configurations...i may just not be getting the specs for the application right though...i was in the army not the marines

Lighter batteries = smaller scooter: you need less displaced volume. Or, smaller scooter = lighter scooter.

I went a different route from Billy. I put a 42Ah LiPoly pack in my UV-26. The difference in weight meant that I had to add 36 pounds of lead to make the scooter neutral. There are two advantages: first, the weight can be distributed off-axis to counteract the torque of the scooter, and that scooter is by far the nicest I've used, including the Magnus. You hardly need to hold the handle it is so stable. The other advantage is that the LiPoly pack is smaller and can be enclosed in its own housing, making it flood-resistant. The disadvantages are that the scooter still weighs the same when you are hauling it out of the water and that the cycle life is lower than some other chemistries. By my calculations my pack should, according to specifications, last about 5 years, by which time something different will be available. The other small advantage is that the pack outputs a slightly higher voltage, so that the scooter is a bit faster than a standard 26.

I totally agree with Billy: unless you're doing long dives where the burn time of a standard 26 is too short, you don't need it. After a trip to the far end of the spring tunnel in Manatee from Catfish (about 10k each way) my 42Ah pack had about a third of its duration left. Anything longer than that and you probably need more than one back-up scooter.

Just my thoughts. I have some lightly-used SS-original Genesis lead acid batteries in my garage that Bill can have in exchange for a case of beer or a decent single malt.

Will definitely trade a decent single malt although you should consider asking for some pappy van winkle family reserve whiskey...it is quite tasty. Should be in g'ville in a couple of weeks. Bill

    the scooter motor is 24V

you can not connect packs in serial but you can connect packs in parallel.
however you cannot charge in parallel

you dont need a PCM with a 100A limit.
this is basically the pack I have, I use a PCM with 16A limit, 10awg wires & Anderson connections.

Edd has one of these packs at his shop, but I don't think he is real happy with it:
