They had to get that information somewhere. There is already a virus sitting on your end or his (possibly either's email password has been hacked, or possible virus on a email server, but less likely), and reading your email. When it finds a tracking number in an email (I'm betting) it spoofs another email based on information found in that particular email. The virus it sent as an attachment is either a worse virus that needs a bit more trust to get itself in, or is the same virus trying to propagate further.
