I was just a camera cable monkey and my buddy and I were unable to get back to the really tiny, silty part of the cave before having to turn the dive on gas. From what I understand from the people who did make it to that part of the cave, no one saw any evidence that someone had been there. I agree with Kevin regarding the parents, they just want closure.

That dive wasn't much fun either.

Maybe he had left the stages at vortex and was enticed by someone to dive at another location, left in another vehicle and something went wrong, hence, he and his primary equipment would not be in the cave at vortex................

The junk in the basin looked pretty well spent to be honest... more like what you'd find after a dive(ignoring the broken valves and lack of regulators). Like he dived then left for bluer pastures. The one stage in the cave was negative...

Fuller than a neutral or positive tank. Thats the only tank I wasn't around for when they checked the gas/contents. I only observed it, laying flat on the bottom, a bit past the gate.

    Nowhere to go there.

More likely home with a panama city skank, and got beat to death by her BF.

Hmm, maybe we should do some scouting work...

My Facebook page and another cavediver have one less friend. Shelby McDaniel, the father of Ben McDaniel befriended a lot of cave divers on Facebook, but I guess out of displeasure from comments made by concerned cave divers,I got the boot. But,I still stand by my conviction that offering a reward is close to wreckless when it should tempt someone not experienced to attempt this dive. Shelby if you are reading this, we have a philosophy in the sense that one victim is bad,two is worse. If you want to discuss this then PM me your phone number and I will be happy to talk to you about it.

I'm not convinced that it's impossible for him to be in there. Unlikely, yes, but not impossible. There's plenty of unstable sand and soft clay for a body to hide behind or under.
However... I'm also not convinced that he's not just fine somewhere with a new identity. The thing I haven't seen is a CPA's "follow the money" analysis. The feeling that I have from just reading all the things folks have written who did know him suggests to me that he was a one man financial disaster, and walking away from that mess might have been very attractive. The one thing I don't think is likely is that someone would have gone to the trouble of doing him in and hiding the body.
No, especially with the odd nature of the placement and condition of the supposed "stage" and "deco" bottles, along with the thorough survey/search by Edd, et al, I think it most likely that he is not in the cave.
Still, I won't be surprised if someday something comes drifting out of the cave that leads us to his body, buried under (or behind) a pile of sand/clay.
    Rick
