I don't think Garrison Keillor reports on caving accidents. On "The Writer's Almanac," he was giving report on a fellow, Terry Eagleton, who wrote Literary Theory with a chapter on phenomenology.

Every once in a while someone catches me on something they don't hear in their life. Once pointed out, I hear it all the time. Slüdge posted something on his Facebook page that he wished he'd hear. Once he pointed it out, I've noticed it on the radio quite a few times. I had a flyer stuffed in my hands on it once. I almost scanned it an posted it on his wall and send him the links to all the radio programs I've heard on what he hasn't. But I don't want to piss him off. It's just that my experience is quite a bit different than his.

But if folks are gonna pick on me, I'm free to defend myself!

    What was that?

On the first note (not that Wikipedia is the final word on anything, but usually a good starting point), Wiki has ten different entries on the various fields of phenomenology.

Well, after a week of great diving, exploration, surveying, and camaraderie, our trip came to an end; and I suspect we are all back at work earning some money for our next trip. We had a successful week which was highlighted by the following:

    1. Deepairmike and his buddy, Mike W, connecting the Sin Nombre Slim Chance entry to the original Sin Nombre entry. I guess this officially results in Sistema Sin Nombre. FYI, the original Sin Nombre entry was first dove by Adam67 last June. The Slim Chance entry was first dove by Slim a few days later with some follow-up exploration dives later in 2010. While the two entries are 100 to 150 feet apart, it took a number of dives over three trips to connect the two. The Slim Chance entry averages 30 foot in depth and has many brittle formations while the original entry averages around 40 to 45 feet in depth and has more sturdy formations. So, it took a while to find the shaft that connected the two levels.
    2. Surveying and mapping 3200 feet of passage in Sistema Sin Nombre. There is still more line to survey and more passage to explore; however, the landowner asked us to leave prior to our last dive on Thursday.
    3. Taking photos and shooting video of the Cocodrilo cave to document formations, historic items, and an air bell.
    4. Exploring and surveying an ocean cave that was subsequently named Dos Coronas due to its close proximity to the Playa de Coronas Bar and Grill located on the beach. This cave was partially explored in backmount earlier but we were able to continue other areas in sidemount. We are still waiting for the results of our data but we probably surveyed 1000 feet or more. Also, we laid line in some new passages. We also surveyed a separate entrance several hundred feet away but did not make a connection.

A special thanks to Deepairmike for putting this trip together and also to the NACD, Hollis gear, and to Living on the Egde Adventures in Gastonia, NC for their financial or equipment contributions for this trip or the previous trips.

In the event you are in Cozumel, look for the No Name Bar and Grill which is across the street from the International pier(not to be confused with the No Name Bar in the Baracuda Hotel). To the left of the bar is a small pond (maybe 30 by15 feet) surrounded by a stone wall and walkway, foliage, and some bird cages. There may be ducks in the pond and an iguana sunning himself on one of the trees. That is Slim Chance Entry. The bar owner (from Australia) is not the landowner but was helpful in getting us access until the end. If you get a chance, the No Name Bar is a nice casual place to eat and grab your favorite refreshment.

    Safe diving,

    Sandy Robinson

That's the one at Hotel Barracuda. I think Sandy was talking about a different one.

They have the same quote at the one next to Sin Nombre. I think both may be owned by the same person.

They call the one at Sistema Sin Nombre the "No Name Garden Bar". Both were set up by the same lady, but who owns what now I can't say. If you ever have a lot of free time at the bar, the whole story about how it started is on the back of their menu. The motto is written in the Garden Bar, but is most noticeable in the old Garden Bar (where we stored gear) written in huge letters across the arch of the entrance. The old and new GB are on either side of the Slim Chance Cenote.

For years I had used the word speleotherm. Hell, my friends used the term. Then one day I had the misfortune of betting a geologist that it was an actual geology term. Seemed the sily girl used the term speleothem. I was incorrect. Funny how things get stuck in your mind.

You were only *partly* incorrect. Cut yourself some slack. 'Member looking it up on the internets and finding the *real* definition of speleotherm: A hot and bothered caver.
