Ill add my $.02 on the subject.

When I was a cavern diver, I looked up to cave divers; I couldn’t wait until I was old enough to be one. I was diving with my family at Peackock (all cavern divers at the time). We arrived at the crack of dawn; there were 3 otters in the basin chasing fish and stirring up the mud. We did our dive, took a surface interval. As we were gearing up for a second, dive two caves divers arrived. They were bitching loudly that the “Cavern Divers” trashed the cave. (It was the Otters honestly) Then during my dive I saw these two “Full Cave” divers, they were terrible, they could not hover, their knees dropped and they attempted to make silt angels.
I lost a lot of respect for cave divers that day. Just because you have a card does not mean you are the worlds greatest diver. I was a better diver with far less training. All that being said, let it roll off your back. There are arrogant people in every facet of diving.

On to advice, when a question is asked, it does not have to be answered. Remember that saying, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”? Well this should apply; jumping on someones case about training probably will not motivate them to take a class. It will motivate them to prove you wrong and do whatever the original plan was without any helpful advice you may have given them.
Now, I don’t give advice on my favorite caves unless I know you. And If a stranger ask about them on the forum, I don’t ask for a C-card, I am not a dive operator. I just keep my opinion to myself.

Oh please: lets bring back the GUI forum. Now that was rude, nasty and the home of the arrogant who had no use for the non GUI's.

    What a great forum.

Do they still exist? Maybe I could make a post so I can enjoy the work of sadists....

What I meant/was trying to say was that I've been hearing about Adam's internet postings from a lot of different people and they are usually negative comments. This is in no way a reflection on his diving ability, I do not know the man, but I'm sure that being trained by Rob, he is extremely competent in the water. At this point, I suppose I at least owe him a couple of beers....

Anyways, I just wanted to clear that up, remember people this is the internet....

    Safe diving,

    Rich
well i am sorry to here that I have a bad internet reputation but honestly could care less what people think of me. I feel I am a safe diver and if you want to dive with me great, if not have fun and be safe. Being in the Marine Corps I am quite used to pissing people off. Although it is not something I wish to do. Those who know me personaly seem to have no problem with me or the way I dive, or they at least wont say anything to my face. But I have a bad problem with calling it how I see it.

now to try to clear up the damn scooter post which I wish i had never started. YES I have taken my tekna in a cave. scotered in between the break downs at jb and practiced swimming it out a few times. Did this fir awhile and mesured my gas usage. YES I did ask about penetration with a 26 that is because I was trying to get an idea of the performmance, noit trying to plan a dive. I guess I could have cleard that up a bit. When I get a 26 I will probaly never take it past the 2nd t in JB. I know I loose alot in text due to my personality. This thread was not started in a direct response to my scooter question on tds. But for the last 3 years I have herd cave and tech divers act like gods and was wondering if i was missing something.

Now I know I am a safe diver, I dive in the military and instruct at the navy base, I took my full cave class in Jan of 05 from a lds in florida. Did not cave dive for 2 years and moved back to florida. decided that I forgot too much(did not really learn much in the first place) and started from scratch with chipola divers untill I was full cave AGAIN. so I am not about to try and make an eol run without a class. I am a firm believer of diving within my limits. did I take a scooter in a cave before a class and break rules YES but I did it very safely. Am I a safe and good diver? I think so...am I an abrasive SOB that comes off wrong and gets under peoples skin deffinatly! But I have found that with most of the people I get into it with I wind up planning dives with down the road. I am sure I have made a few enemys on this site and tds. o well. I call it how I see it. If my vision is bad tell me and maybe we can work it out. I have no problem with someone telling me I am jacked up, just do it up front and say I am going about something the wrong way.

Now I have got an e-mail from rich and will be e-mailing him back shortly seems like he had nothing but good intentions and I probaly cam off wrong in my post. but this post was about an overall attitude. not any one incident.
And if anyone else is unsure to my identy

instructor naval diving salvage training center 350 sout crag RD PCB florida.
I dive JB every weekend and drive a black 04 yukon. Not trying to call any one out but if you have a problem with me come on over to me at the site and lets talk it over. I am sure with out loosing it in text we will wind up laughing and planning a dive together

So I guess instead of saying "I do not know the man", I should have said "I don't know Adam from Adam".....

I don't know Adam's housecat, but I do know his dog - a beautiful German shepherd named (what else from a guy that teaches military rebreathers?), Drager.

I don't know Adam from Adam, either. It's nice to know he has a dog and cat. But I just kinda wonder about this line. (I'm being philosophical here and talking kinda about lots of people on internet fora.) If you don't care what people think about you and you are used to pissing people off, doesn't that mean you lost the moral grounds to complain about *other* people's attitudes? Heck, I don't like their attitudes, either, in many cases. But this is something of the hazards of the internet.

Someone on CaveChat just posted up with questions about tying together a whole bunch of dynamic ropes to do Golondrinas. Ey yai yai! Talk about an accident waiting to happen!!! In general, if responses to such a question are too rude, it defeats the purpose of educating them. It just rubs them wrong and they turn off to what you're trying to say.

As Rich says, this is just the internet!

Land of Enchantment -- not so great for cave diving, but mighty scenic!
