Anybody get into Manatee this weekend (the 7th or 8th)? What was the flow and vis?
How about the Nest? especially the entry area off the cone.. I've been waiting to work on some photos and need better than the 30' it's been lately.
TIA

I was there today. The main springs was not open, but I was told it will be open tomorrow. We dove the one behind the main springs (Catfish Something). Vis was poor for all the divers that were in there. First time ther for me, and first time diving in a duckweed covered area.
You need only two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.
The vis in the sink at Catfish was about 30 to 40 the cave was good about 50 maybe alittle more. The flow was high \Ripping and the main spring is closed water at the top just below the concrete walk.![]()
Wrt. Manatee: It's been two weeks since I was at Manatee, but over the last month and a half the visibility has been improving drastically once past Friedman. The Friedman entry is quite enjoyable, and should you choose to exit at Friedman, it will accomodate two divers on deco easily. Alternatively, enter at Friedmans and go ...whatever upstream, turn and go back past Friedman (could pick up O2 bottle here) and drift with the current back to Catfish and do deco there.
Beautiful view of the sunlight coming down through both Friedman and Sue.
