I did. The purpose of this thread is twofold. First is to express my concern about what happened on Sunday. Second is to raise awareness of any DPV pilots so they think about what they're doing when they're in a small passage. I too look forward to a detailed map of Madison.
Unfortunately, you're probably right. This was the first time I've encountered this type of stupidity in a cave.
I couldn't agree more. I wanted to wait for them to finish their dive to discuss it with them directly but my buddy wanted to get home.
Their form or lack thereof was exactly the point I am trying to make and you're right, I wasn't in any danger however, the whole situation could have been avoided..
Damn! I never even thought of that....next time!![]()
Atleast you weren't almost killed like someone else who posted about his near death scooter experience here a few months back, if I recall correctly.
And I'm sure I looked worse than them, as I tried to figure out how in the world anybody steers a Gavin, a few weeks back. I swore off ever trying one of those again, mostly because I looked like a stroke trying to get it to go straight! Made my SS feel like the king of the cave... Hopefully the divers in question learned from their mistake and will drive better in the future.
For $25 (deposited into my eBay account) I can generate you a permit. Maybe sccoters should have license plates with decals indicating the permit status for various caves. I so miss the state of cave diving during the 80s.
