Yes these are the early tools of Co-Mangus-Aquidious or more commonly known as Cave Diving Man. Those close pins are believe used in mating rituals to impress a possible mate.

When does it change from litter to archeology? In my mind a broken pot from 1800 is far different from a can of Pabst.

I have heard that an object becomes an "artifact" 50 years after the last human touched it. But I'm sure there are many other sets of criteria out there.

Is this not a reminder that, as I have been taught, we as cave dives have be stewards to the aquifer that we are trying to protect? Will or will not the items lying around not rust / deteriorate and leach into the aquifer thus causing a form of pollution. Now I wonder why exactly we assist in water way annual cleanups.
