A couple weeks ago I was diving in JB with my LED LUX, after the first dive Edd told me to try a 24w DR he had just gotten back fixed from DR. On the next dive my partner was swimming way ahead of me on the mainline ( like 50+ ft.). After the dive I asked " how come you were trying to lose me in there?" he replied I saw your light and thought you were right behind me..... Moral of the story.. I bought that used 24w HID I love it.

It's not about having the brightest light. Have you given any thought to if your buddy was BEHIND you trying to signal you? Would you have seen it? In a timely manor?

This is just me, but I love the softer 10W HID lights....but then again, I'm not afraid of the dark...much anyway I have no desire to light the cave up like I'm on the pitchers mound at the World Series.

It's bad luck to be superstitious.

I am a big fan of my 10 watt HID. I think it is more important to have evenly matched lights with your buddy than to have the brightest light possible. I was up at Peacock last weekend and had an issue with my buddy's light being brighter than mine. It wasn't a dive stopping issue but it took me a little while to realize that I wasn't being flashed all the time.

I hate where Dive Rite went with their 10w HIDs. My first one was a 13°, then it was discontinued and I had to settle for a 6°, then it was discontinued and all they had was the 4°. I did some swapping around so I have a 6° in my main one, but my backup primary and my handheld have the 4°.

If I can trade for a 10w with adjustable focus, I will. (Or maybe I should use my 24w more - it's adjustable. For that matter, I REALLY like it with the video reflector, but it's a pain scootering, because it acts like a scoop.)

Whoever said money can't buy love never bought a puppy.
