    Default light choice

Flooded my 24w dr light in mx and it's toast...can convert it back to a 24w or change to an H1000...can't decide what to do, what would jah do? any thoughts? its about 300 for one and 500 (24w) for the other. Bill

I would get a light monkey 12 w led' great light, very small battery pack and super reliable and really rugged too, not as bright as a 24 w hid but way brighter than a 10 hid.
Maybe the 21w led model is as bright as a 24w.
We have two down here were you can't just send lights in to get fixed without paying a ridiculous shipping charge so reliability is key and with the 12w light monkeys tier have been zero problems in the past two years and I have even dropped mine from about 5meters onto solid rock with no problem at all.

Thanks guys, already have 3 light monkey lights...this is a reconfiguration of an existing dr 24w not a new light.

LOL... I was presented with this option about 6 months ago (before a light failure), I had several lights to compare to and dive with, and here's what I found. The H1000 is nowhere near as bright as the 24w. The LED LUX is a far cry from the 24w and the 12w LED isn't near the light the 24w light is. I knew that ultimately DR would quit servicing my 24w eventually, and I wanted another light before my 24w went belly up. I decided on a 21w Halcyon (because I got it at cost). The light beam is identical in every way to the 24w DR light.

If you are used to a 24w HID, an LED isn't going to come close and neither is the H1000. That was my perspective anyway.

    Bill

Get in touch with Lamar English. He is building some interesting 30 watt hid heads. Geri has one, and damn that thing is annoyingly bright.

Send the light into Sartek, he will upgrade any 21-24 w HID to a 35 w HID even if the light does not work, I just sent in my 21w. You can't beat a deal like that and Sartek lights are great too.

    H1000 is a 14-15w, can't remember which.
