Dive Log Software

Do you know if it works with mysql, or is it only MSsql that it works with?
Really not interested in joining that yahoo group just to read any of the how-to's etc.

I don't know about other SQL.

The yahoo group is almost more of a help forum. Some people there gave me ideas on how to customize the software for the X1. Mostly just knowing what is posiible it is pretty easy to figure it out even without instructions.

Unfortunately I had to type in roughly 400 dives that were on paper. I built software to enter basic data into the Bridge software: dates, generic profiles, tanks, gas mix and usage, etc. Then I had to type in the details and comments by hand. It was a days or weeks of work spreadout over several years. However, once I had it electronically logged it was relitively little effort to build translators, etc. to transfer it to Scubase.

More recently I stuck my paper logs into a scanner and scanned all of them to pdf in about an hour... I would recomend that as a good, simple solution to paper logs.

I'm going to leave my written logs (ie. up to #200) in my log book, but I will stop there. Since #160, I've been capturing my X1 download screen prints and saving them as *.jpg files. I think I'll be doing that henceforth. The V-Planner Live X1 Download program is quite nice.

Shows excellent profile graphs, and I can include a personal log and compute SAC rate etc. (as long as I remember PSI numbers for each dive).

I trust these will be sufficient for the "Award coordinators" when it's time to worry about that.

I would stick with paper and pencil, but I cant find Big Chief or Son of Big Chief tablets anymore... or the jumbo pencils.

I recently moved my 1100+ dives into Scubase http://www.scubase.net/.

For me it took some sql work but the software has importers that can import dive logs from many other dive log softwares. Also it can download directly from several different computers.

The scubase divelog is very configurable. For instance I added fields for tracking tanks, types and gas usages for upto 10 tanks per dive, added checkboxes for tracking a number of dive conditions I've been tracking, etc

It maintains and displays detailed profile info and it has a number of very nice reporting features and graphs. Also can organize series of dive into "trips" and track and report on them that way as well.

It gives a lot of nice tools for reporting and customizing reports and some searching can be done using the reporting tools but not much for searching for specific text or an individual buddy, etc (though with some SQL can get around that limitation).
