Wet or dry???

Wet suit for really tight Florida passage. Wet suit in Mexico. Dry suit for everything else.

I am pretty much the same, but I leave out the word "Florida", and change Mexico to "tropics".

having no experience at all with dry suits, it would seem kind of a hassle to pee, lol.. so I would probably take the cold.

When I lived in the Pac NW, I dove wet for two years before going dry. When I moved to warm, sunny, warm FL where it is warm, I could not wait to get rid of my dry suits.

Now that I have been here a while, it seems that I am finding it more of a challenge to stay warm. Probably something to do with sitting at rest doing deco??

My preference is turning back to dry suits for my fresh water diving . Although when it's its a typical FL summer day 90/90's I will sometime wear a wetsuit as it is now fun to sweat up and soak a dry suit before even getting in the water.

Of course the ocean this time of year is pretty much a pair of shorts and a vest.

Mexico was 5 mil wet w/ hooded vest.

For as much as drysuits cost I wear mine in the shower

Actually what is your advice? I dive a 7mm with a 3mm hooded vest in all caves here in the DR.
Having zero experience with a dry suit and they are super expensive too.
If I were to come and dive Florida (hopefully soon) could I dive with my wetsuit if I came in the summer?
I don't plan on doing super long dives just a bunch of hour long or so dives.

I had a couple of students last February wearing 3mm shorty over a 3mm full suit. The water is always 68 degrees in my part of Florida, but the air temp was in the 40s!!! I was even cold in my dry suit!!

You should be fine in your 7mm during the summer.

I did my Cavern and Intro and Cave 1 classes in a wet suit in MX. In Cave 1, I did fine during the swimming part of the dive, but the debriefs in the ponds would reduce me to racking shivering. The very next trip I went dry, and I haven't been in a cave in a wet suit since. But then again, I dove the Red Sea in a drysuit, so I guess I'm a little odd. I love being warm.

Wetsuit, unless its warm saltwater and the jellyfish aren't out.

Drysuits are too expensive and not worth the money for the dives I make.

Nobody worry about having to walk out of a cave in a wetsuit with a failed wing and 104's?
