there isn't a sign that says eagles nest until you drive up to the pond, that I remember anyway

Oh I was under the impression they had signs saying it was "this way" since someone had said that. IDK I still have yet to locate it lol. Can anyone give me the coordinates to the entrance via PM? Like I said I am not some idiot looking to go there and screw things up for you guys, I just like exploring things of this nature. I've already visited a few others. I know of one off of Countyline Road on the Pasco side that is on private property. I went there to go see it and didn't venture on the property out of respect for the owner.
You need a line to get TO the site?
Sounds like you have it all figured out. Have a great time there, and be sure to pay the three dollars.
Thank you to the kind person who PM'd me better directions to the entrance. I will gladly pay the $3 and tread lightly while heading out there. I just pray I don't get lost. lol.
Dude i live on the other side of 19 & i still use a gps

Funny you say that, I checked out the entrance last night when going down US19 towards Homosassa. Definitely a bunch of mosquitos just at the entrance off 19. LOL
Also to avoid those insane trails, I figured I'd just pay my $6 (friend is coming with me) and get the stub then back track down US19 to another dirt road that I know leads to it. As long as I have the stub present I should be set right? I'd just rather not have to tread through the whole refuge when I know of another trail that will take about 10mins to go down versus 30mins.
Just go in through the main gate, and drive the 30 minutes. Most (all?) of the other trails are gated and not passable. There's also some privately held land in the middle of Chassahowitzka, so be sure you're not trespassing by driving through that. It's probably safest to just go in by the iron ranger and stick to the well-blazed trail. If you're not diving anyway, getting there truly will be half the fun.

Ended up heading out there later in the day today around 3PM. I am not sure on if I paid the correct amount to go in or overpaid. I had a friend with me, and it was $3 per person. It also said for every noncommercial vehicle that's $6. So in total we put $12 in the envelope. If we misunderstood it thats fine, $12 isn't much and it went to a good cause anyways.
The main entrance was pretty straight shot. Like you said we just stayed on the main paved road and most of the side roads say no trespassing for vehicles or something to that effect. It only took us I'd say 20mins to arrive at Eagle's Nest. The water was definitely merky from all the rain runoff that probably drained into it. Was considering going Snorkeling but found no point in it because of the clarity. We ended up just exploring all the roads that vehicles were allowed on in the refuge in an attempt to familiarize ourselves with getting around it.
Will definitely head back out once it stops raining everyday and hopefully the visibility opens up some more.
