Death of a Cave Diver Arrow Eagles Nest???

    Hey,

I came across this forum when looking for information about Eagle's Nest on Google.

My question is, currently, is it opened to the pubic? I am not a diver of any sorts but I like checking out these locations. I found my way back to the Lost Forty the other day but it had just rained so the water was not very clear.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Once again I am not looking to dive in the cave, I'm just curious to see it. I'm not dumb.

Unless you're one heck of a free diver you'd be doing good to make it down to see the cavern zone
Nothing really to see just a pond.

Drove out there Friday to test the new dive vehicle. Roads are in pretty good shape.

    "Is this thing on?"

Haha no, I do not plan to free dive it in anyway. I may be young but I am surely not THAT stupid

How much is the fee? I've been down US50 100's of times (im a local) and I see two entrance gates, which one is eagles nest? Is it the first one coming from the US19/US50 intersection or the second one? Or do they both lead to it?

I just realized I am wrong about both entrances, LOL!

EDIT: I've been looking on GoogleMaps, I see the spring itself and a road leading to it. That road looks like it comes off from Glen Lakes BLVD, how are you guys getting back there? Glen Lakes is a gated community is it not? Or is there another entrance that I am just not seeing.

I dont think I ever saw clear water at Lost Forty. And that area is fenced off with lots of no trespassing signs now.

Oh, I just figured since it has been raining all week that sand had washed in and clouded it up. I could see from the shore about 1-2ft in but that was it.

I did not see any no trespassing signs? I drove up the powerlines and hung a left which leads directly to it. No fence stopping us or anything. It has a detailed sign explaining what it is and why not to pollute it (with bullet holes in it) -- but nothing about no trespassing. While we were there people were walking by with dogs or just walking for exercise.

EDIT: We also parked my truck on one of the paths in the trees and walked up the powerlines to Joe's and Mary's sink that can be seen directly off US50. They were virtually the same as the Lost Forty.

If you have ever driven by Joe and Marys there is no way you didnt see the fences and NO TREASPASSING signs.

What your trying to say is you found a way around them and ignored the signs.

Be careful the landowner probably put up that stuff for a reason and might not take to kindly to it.

We turned off of Canary Ave onto the power lines and drove maybe 300yds to reach The Lost Forty. We weren't planning on find that one, we wanted to find a way to Joe/Marys but stumbled upon TL40. I did not see one no trespassing sign when I was there, and the fact that they had a sign explaining what it was I figured it was ok to be at. And like I said we had atleast 5 people pass by us walking out there for fun. Even when driving on US50 I do not see any signs lol. But I'll take your word for it, I guess we lucked out. We weren't planning on going back anyways. Too much garbage dumped around it and broken glass... real shame.

EDIT: In that thread there is another local that says there are absolutely no signs anywhere, which I believe is true. The law mentioned about the land just having to be owned to be considered trespassing is interesting though....
