    Default JB and Mondays

FYI: Because of the gulf oil leak and its effect on the gulf beaches, Jackson County has expanded hours at Blue Spring Recreational Area. They are now open to swimmers seven days a week. Just a heads up for anyone who tries to dive JB on Mondays to get away from the crowds. Being that it's a weekday, it shouldn't be too bad but parking will have to be in the usual summer area. It's nice to see Jackson County responding to the need in the panhandle. I was at Morrison last Wednesday afternoon and couldn't believe the crowds!

Of course, I was at the PCB jetties and the water was as beautiful as I've ever seen it...

But thanks for the heads-up. I was considering going down Monday so we could park at Pavilion 1.

We got lucky. Dove JB last Monday then went to PCB. NO dive boats. I heard some divers got into some sub-surface oil on the Black Bart early in the week . It is only 5 miles offshore. We dove the jetties Thurs and Fri. Last dive was 2hr 40 min. My back was honking at the end. Great dives. Vis was ok and depth was 22 msw. We saw no evidence of oil in the park, but it is a matter of time depending on the weather. They have crews out all along the beaches looking for tar balls, etc.

Another thing...just went to JB today for the first time since Memorial Day. They carpeted the steps! No more slipping!

    Now that's good news.

Hey Rob, what about Sunday mornings? Is it still 'divers only' until 1:00p?
