I use a 10W H1 and have had good luck with the bulbs. We had a lot of bulb problems with the mr11 shaped bulbs though. My buddy gave up and went to the LED. I prefer the spot focus of the H1.

I've used just about all of Dive Rite's lights with the 500 Lumen LED, to the 700 Lumen LED to the LED LUX. I also have a discontinued 24w HID (which I love). I've been buying exclusively DR since the old 50watt halogens in the MLS Canisters. However... I just bought my first Explorer 21 HID. I've yet to dive it. I hope it doesn't suck.
I switched to a 10w SCULA from a 10w HID a few years back and I have to have say I haven't missed the HID at all. The light is more diffuse, but its tough to beat no can and a 4 hours burn time.
HID's in the beginning until I purchased a Salvo 12 watt LED for my wife. Small in size, great light pattern and color and focused for signaling.
I'm sure Light Monkey has a similar model.
Not the light of choice for big systems like Eagles Nest or Manatee. But at half the canister size ( and cost) of my 21 watt HID definitely my choice for everyday diving.
