Default Current rules at Jackson Blue

I've been to Jackson a few times, but it's been a little while and never in the summer. I know we have to check in with the Sheriff's Office, show proof of cert., pay the entrance fee, etc. Is diving allowed during the summer? Are there any restrictions on day, time(s), parking, etc.?

    Thanks!

Hey Ben, you now check in with Edd and pay him. He has the log to sign and the same receipts and daily/annual permits. He can not accept a cc as payment and I am not sure about a check. Cash is always good. After paying, he will give you the current gate combo which you may need before or after hours. Diving is 24/7 but his hours are 8 to 6 CST.

Diving is OK in the summer. Parking is on the far side of the park - close to where you would park a boat.

FWIW, Park Management have always been courteous and I have had no issues with the locals. I ususally get questions from some locals related to depth, where did I dive, what did I see, or how far back.

    Safe diving,

    Sandy Robinson

Cash only at Edd's. He is doing this as a service to us and the county and gets no money for himself out of it. The nice thing it no longer has to be exact change. Edd will be able to make change most times. If you want to get in before 8 or after 6, just give Edd a call - 850-482-6016 - to make arrangements for that. He will get you set up for that. The park is closed on Mondays to swimmers, so if you want to avoid them, that's the day to go. Otherwise, it's open to swimmers 11-6 Tues through Sat and 1-6 on Sun. You can dive there 24/7, as Sandy said, but if you are going to be in the park during swim hours you have to follow the road all the way around to the grassy area on the other side of the basin. Parking is in the grassy area just to the left of the tree on the far left in this photo:

Just park on either side. You'll see where everyone else is parking if you get there during swim hours.

Saturdays and Sundays are the most crowded. Weekdays are pretty light on the crowds, especially earlier in the day. I've seen in the range of 400 swimmers there on some weekends.

    Enjoy your trip over here.

    Default Checking Out

You still have to check out. During Edd's shop hours (8am-6pm) you can call the shop or drive-by, but after hours you call the sheriff's dispatch. The number is printed on your pass.

We were there several times last week and were told we didn't need to check out.

Maybe the policy has changed, the last time I was there was about a year ago and you were required to check out either with Ed's or the sheriff's office.

The fee is $25 for the first day, and $10 for the second day (so save your pass from day 1 if you're planning to go back for day 2). I don't know how many "subsequent days" you can get that $10 rate for.

Or you can get an annual pass for $150.

That would be news to me too, but then again I'm usually oblivious. I'll ask if the policy changed.

I was not told to check out 2 weeks ago. We didn't, and Ed didn't say anything the next day, so either he was being nice, or it wasn't an issue?
