I was already booked at Inner Space in Cayman, otherwise I would have attended.

I haven't missed a workshop since 1996,and I think the numbers were comparable.

I think attendance was light. I think the workshop ran very well, presentations were excellent and Jill was an awesome emcee, kudo's to all.

But, though the venue was interesting it was not well suited for the event.
The social would have been more 'social' with some alcohol.
The room would have been too small if more people had shown up.
The vendor attendance was very disappointing and hard to see all around the porch. No real deals or equipment for sale. I think you will have to court the vendors very hard to get a decent turnout from them in the future.
Moving the event back to Memorial Day weekend and in Mariana will hurt attendence, but that is JMHO.

    What? Why?

I'd be 100x more likely to attend a workshop in Mariana, and Memorial Day would make it easier to plan a trip, so that I don't have to drive up and then drive back the next day.

Also the fewer manufactures giving the demo's and more talks from people who are leading exploration (IE WW, WKPP, EKPP, Steve Bogarts), Deco theory talks by someone like Eric Baker, AG on ratio deco, Ben G & the WCDC on meeting landowners (they've had great success) or even someone like Steve Gamble giving talks in basic dry suit leak testing....would be more likely to attract my attention.

I look forward to the event Bill Rotella is going to treat us to. He has to be one of the nicest people I know. I'm confident that a very selfless effort will go into managing this workshop. I know I won't be disseminated.

Ok maybe I can understand why some folks would say Memorial Day may not be the best weekend to have, although I like it for that weekend, I don't understand the statement about Marianna though. Unless I am very mistaken most attendees travel some distance when this conference is down in the High Springs area. So what is the difference then traveling to a different location. If you fly into Panama City or Tally it is a short drive over to the Mill Pond, if you are driving from the West or the Mid-West it is closer to you, some East coast folks may have to drive a different direction yet the times would probably be similar.

So why is it that Marianna will hurt attendance?

If I could have dove in between events I would have come. I prefer to dive than to talk about it. I like the friendships and I like the conversations but actions speack loader than words. To much politics end up at these things.

I might have skipped a wedding or a graduation to attend, but I was delivering a eulogy in Boston for my 102 year old Grandmother.
Trust me, I would have rather been at the workshop

Did I see something about a gathering over the 4th of July weekend?
