In other words, there is ZERO effect on the potentiometric surface of the aquifer. (Unlike municipal production wells.)

Let me ask you a question... what happens to the water, if Nestle doesn't bottle if from Ginnie Springs?
The residents on Spring Lake in Marianna would differ with your assement of "zero effect" after Zephrhills Bottlers pumped water from one of the springs until you could not move a shallow draft canoe along the lake. I watched 18 wheeled tankers line up along Hwy 167 day and night for several years to syphon off the spring water to haul it south.

I understand they pulled out when they were syphoning more sand than water from the spring......BYE BYE ......SO LONG......SEE YA.

Dr. Lambe made a lot of money on that deal. Had the pumping station across the street from his house and everything. I knew it was bad when Mr. Jones spring started to have a syphon flow.

Hmm... interesting article. Not much science there, but I guess anyone can write blogs these days.

I really liked the part where they implied Nestle threatened to not employ as many people if their permit wasn't held at the original level. It would be comical for a corporation to allow the amount of inputs dictate the level of capital investment in their plant.

I had family that lived off of 167 but I haven't been there in ages. Has the lake dried up from the bottling plant's efforts? I recall it only being about 300-400' wide at any given point back in the day (1983). It seemed more like a 2 mile long spring run than anything else. I can remember a drought in 1981 or 1982 that pretty much did the same thing as what you're talking about, but after a year or two it was back up to normal. Is it not doing that anymore?

Frankly, you can only have a gun pointed at you so many times until you reach a point that you don't care if the damn lake dries up and a giant sinkhole swallows three of four of these obnoxious bastards houses.

I'm from that area... or right across the state line. And I know of several springs that dried up, not from water bottlers, but from those evil peanut farmers. And to top if off, they even have an annual carnival to celebrate their benefit to the local economy. The audacity.

OFG would you be our sacrificial lamb and draw fire from the shore while the rest of us go diving?

If someone points a gun at me or pulls out a knife, they should,

    a) be ready to use it
    b) make damn sure I am dead
