Downstream by some maps, upstream by others, actual downstream at some points, actual upstream at other times...

Its a hellovalot easier just to say he went 'right'

    lol +2 on that!

Watch out for the indication that you're about to make a purchase when Edd hands you a piece of gear and says "Take this out for a dive."

Maybe that's why I have problems understanding vis reports from upstream/downstream. No one knows where they are. My map and dive buddies all refer to the Upstream section as the one with the Century tunnel or in Mat's lingo go right. Rob was that a mis-type or do you call the side with the Big E the Upstream?

Thanks for the report guys. Fun read.

I can't remember where, but I've seen an older map somewhere that has upstream on the left, and downstream on the right. Since the flow seems to come out of one hole at some times, the other, at other times... I don't think anyones actually wrong.

When someone tells me upstream, I instantly think of the side with the century tunnel though - I think most of the newer(which are still old) maps list it that way.

Right On ! Looking forward to getting back.

List of things for next time

    1. Let FW know we're going
    2. Try to get back before flow goes up and JB needs a scooter before I can get one.
    3. Bring camera & housing for the lower flow dives.
    4. Stay Longer & dive more

Heck, I'll make a purchase without even testing it.

Good point, now if I could just somehow find a way to explain that to my wife.

You guys have a great week.

    Safe diving,

I was there a week ago and the flow was ripping, as it has been for several months. Is it somehow down now?

The copy of the map that i have,1978, labels the century tunnel side or right side as "upstream" .......and labels the bigE side or left side as "downstream" (actually outflows) .

Russell, we made two dives (non-scooter) on Saturday - the flow was down (by JB standards) and the viz was nice. We arrived by boat and the water was over the fence where we swam under. Maybe the water level is keeping the flow down some.

    Safe diving,
