    Default Cannon Ball Cave

It all started with a phone call no wait it was a email several weeks ago about getting to do a dive some time if we could get our schedules to work out. As you can see bye this report they did. D called me last night to see if we were still on for the dive. As you can see with this report you can figure it out that we were.

Met D at the parking lot above the lake that we all use most of the time. We dove Cannon Ball today with some fun and a plan for the dive. It was agreed that we would get back to the deco lone and put some more air in the inner tubes that are used to keep the deco line up. As we head in we see that the Vis goes from 1 foot in the lake to about 20 foot in the cave system. It was planned to take the first jump and set a spool then jump back to main line go and take the next jump and set another spool then get back on main line and go around the pit then to go fill up the inner tubes and to gather our spools on the way out. D ran the first spool and I ran the second spool. We filled the inner tubes and then started out exit after we went around the pit. On the way out we say some very cloudy water and both thought the other had bad buoyancy but problem is we were not in that area and could not figure out how it got there. We then saw a catfish and noticed he had bad fining skills since he was on the bottom stirring up the silt. Went on past the catfish and worked our way out. Saw 1 but it could have been 2 catfish and 2 different drums swimming in the cave. Water temp in the cave was 60* with a lake water of 55*. Total dive time with 5 minutes of deco was 70 minutes and we hit max depth of 61 feet with an average of about 40 feet. The sun was shinning nice and warm today with a air temp of about 70*. It was fun getting the gear up and down the hill. I thought more from the Florida Cave are need to get up here and see this cave and experience the hill. The flow in the cave was moderate. Oh yes we did this dive today March 31st of 2005.

    Default Thought about you

    Hey Slim!

Thought about you on Saturday while I enjoyed a nice, warm leisurely dive. We went aways down the mainline in Devils. The day was beautiful - not a cloud in the sky - maybe 78 degrees and the water was a beautiful, clear and practically balmy 72 degrees.

Dive was about 117 minutes (with deco) and didn't even get chilly till the last 5 minutes...

Oh yeah, due to the river being up there was virtually no flow - it was quite cool being able to fin slowly through the lips!
