    Default What gets caves open

This information has turned the heads of county commissions, and chamber of commerces. During my tenure with the CDS I had access to less definitive numbers, and used this with different chambers with very positive results.

    Thumbs up

Thank you Bill and Ashton! I am betting that this work will benefit many areas for cave access.

This work is great. Although great information doesn't do a lot of good unless someone is out there marketing it. I've done that in the past, but currently I have retired to my private honey hole

Thanks guys...we were appreciative of the data that got sent to us by you all and some of the discussions that took place here regarding willingness to pay. There's a lot of info from our survey about cave divers that did not get published in the article. We still have our paper about wakulla valuation under review....

Just to let you know, data from the survey that Sludge sent was eliminated as an outlier

Here's a copy of the paper, if you go to the journal site they want you to buy it. The reporter in Marianna got a couple of things wrong...sorta like when they tell you the diver died from running out of oxygen. The most important is that we did NOT do economic impact in the tradtional sense of the phrase and the valuation that we generated was based on 500 different divers visiting per year...Edd assure me that number is at least 1,000 so that the annual value is about $1m....if you add economic impact from expenditures, that number will at least double again. The total economic value of jb from just a cave diving perspective is $2m or more annually making it one of the largest economic enterprises in Jackson county.

So, how do you make a trip to Marianna and only spend $170.00?
