You don't have to support Ginnie. Nothing is being held there. They are merely giving entry fee discounts to workshop attendees

Aren't we talking the NSS-CDS here?

I think the poster meant that he'd rather support the NACD than the NSS/CDS, except that there is some connection to Ginnie that he disagrees with....?

I support both personally and although there are problems with both, things I disagree with that both are doing, that's no reason to not support them. They both do good things for cave diving and the price is about the least expensive thing I've ever done in cave diving or any other kind of diving! You just can't get more bang for your buck than paying the membership to NSS/CDS and NACD.

Well said Skip...Given that, what good things do you think the NSS-CDS does for cave diving as a whole?

    Walter:

I, and I’m sure everyone here, realize you have a personal vendetta against the NSS-CDS. This might be due to a legitimate reason or just a soap box routine, neither of which need to be discussed here. But, I for one would appreciate it if you didn’t air it every time a post about the NSS-CDS was made.

Do you not consider the preservation of cave sites such as: Cathedral, Cow, Alachua, and School Sink, a good thing for cave diving as a whole?

    Thanks

Who are you? And I DO NOT have a "vendetta" against the CDS. Do you know that the NSS ultimately OWNS all of the sites (in the case of insolvency)? Did you also know that Alchua is not owned by the CDS but by the NSS? The CDS "manages" Alachua for the NSS.

I don't see any preservation being done by presenting motions such as allowing training at ALL CDS owned and managed properties - http://nsscds.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=518

The NSS-CDS is becoming an organization run by instructors for instructors. Try to ask anyone on the BOD what the current membership is and let me know if they tell you. If they do tell you it is "around" 840, then ask them how it dropped from "over" 1,000 in just a couple of years. They might say economy but then you have to ask why the NACD's membership has gained a couple of hundred in the same time period.

If the current puppet master does not like the how the elections turn out he will instruct one of the other BOD members to resign so that 1 (or more) of his 3 candidates can get a full 2 years on the BOD. There will be no election for that as it is an appointment allowed in the By-Laws. Once the BOD gets stacked, this is how it will continue.

My vendetta is for individuals that lie and cheat in order to make money off my membership fees using this preservation and conservation line. Personally, I am amazed how many of YOU 1) don't vote and 2) only want people to like you.

    Again, who are you?

Also a special thanks for the most recent door prize donations from Jill Heinerth (two beautiful matted prints and a large archival print as well as some CAVE posters!) and Wayne Kinard of Amigos Dive Center - Wayne has really lost his mind and is donating fill cards, Nitrox,O2, and Trimix coupons, finger spools, a jump reel, a mask, wet-notes, and some great Amigos swag (hats and tees). You guys ROCK!
    Great news Beth.

I am looking forward to this workshop. You have tireless effort for detail, and having attended past events you have directed, this will be an excellent workshop.
