    I know this a highly-scientific discussion and not likely to be skewed in some sociologically-inappropriate manner, so I've got a few thoughts to add. Of course, I'm not as experienced as many of y'all in this area, but here are some of my own virgin passage conclusions:
    1. a virgin passage is not easy to find;
    2. a virgin passage is often very tight;
    3. a virgin passage is usually very thrilling ... once you begin to explore it;
    4. a virgin passage is never again a virgin passage after you've penetrated it the first time;
    5. a virgin passage is often just as thrilling when you enter it the second time ... and third;
    6. a virgin passage looks better when you're on the way in than when you're on the way out (percolation, for those of y'all who aint never had no virgin passage experience at all);
    7. if you encounter a line in a virgin passage, you may very well have been lied to;
    8. if you discover a virgin passage, you best be extraordinarily articulate when explaining it to your significant other;
    9. if you discover a virgin passage, your buddies will want to know about ALL the details;
    and finally ...
    10. if MichaelAngelo can make it into a particular virgin passage, I know for sure it'll be plenty big enough for me to get into!

    MA ... you're reading too much into #10. Condescend & read it again from the perspective of a typical somewhat-civilized southern redneck cave diver ("... where low life meets high tech ...) and you'll feel honored instead of diminished.

    well call me old fashioned but i still think if you do get to explore a virgin cave you should stick with it all the way to the end and fully map it before you move on to the next.

    Some areas are unknown because no one has ever ventured forth, Some are unknown because no one has ever returned.

    I wonder how many of the old fashion dudes found the end of their cave, moved on, only for the next dude to find a new end?

    A lot of them
    The Lips, and Keyhole are good examples, the cave seemed to end, and it was awhile before anyone found a way past them.
