    Default Peacock Conditions

Anyone have a conditions report for Peacock since it reopened?

    Thank you.

about 20 ft of vis. good flow, lots of critters and junk on the lines. A little dark but not uncomfortably so. Peanut line was warmer. We jumped over to the line that goes past pot hole. I don't care for the markings on that line it "feels" like I am being directed to pot hole instead of the opening where my deco gas is, but who am i? I need to try climbing out there with my sidemounts sometime just to see how it works. It was cooler on that side of the cave. It was fun though. Cindy

There is enough room for two divers to ascend to pothole side by side. It is in no way "tight". In the sink itself, there is plenty of room for 4 divers on the surface even with low water levels. It is certainly a viable emergency exit.

Getting out of the water is possible and would be a non issue in sidemount, or by removing backmounted tanks. However, damage would be done actually exiting from the water at Pothole as the material on the slope leading up from the sink is quite soft, would quickly get torn up with any significant traffic and would quicly lead to issues with soil erosion.

I'd encourage anyone to ascend in Pothole to see how open it really is and to confirm that it is definitely an easily managed emergency exit. However, I'd argue againt actually crawling out of the water there just to prove you could do it.

Dove OG to Challenge today 3/20/10 . very nice dive with good vis entire way . OG basin while a bit green is actually very clear. Upon exiting the cave at about 50 ' we looked up and the trees and steps were increidibly visible.

    Dove pothole and peanut today...
Pothole was noticeably darker with less viz and more flow.

    Default Peacock 3/11/10

We dove it today: 20 - 30' viz., noticeable flow, 68 degrees. We didn't notice that the Peanut side was much different than Pothole.

OK I'll take your advice. I wasn't going to crawl out anyway, just check it out.

    Hello
Usually after flood, what cave side (OG or P1) is better for visibility ?

    Thanks
