I believe you misunderstood. What I meant was decompression diving was taught in my Basic Open Water course.

Wow, fun to watch my dive report go so sideways

Actually the Tech Cave program, as laid out by my instructor, is a neat way for him to get me to commit to a series of classes. And a nice way for me to have some continuity in my training. Some of the program is taught in cave and some is o/w, but always focused on the overhead environment. The courses are to be spread out over a flexible time schedule, maybe 6 mo. to a year. The end resut would be a number of different certs. I have never been a "card collector", but I do wish to improve as a "cave diver" and not simply be a diver that goes in caves.

For example, I have never had a formal mix class, and look forward to the opprotunities that it may open up for me as my capabilities continue to grow.

I have dove stages for years, is there maybe a better way to do it than I do currently? Guess I'll find out.

I have been diving since the 70's and at it pretty hard for the last 12 years or so. I do have to say the feeling of getting my full cave card was awesome ! It made diving fresh again. Looking forward to "earning" my Abe Davis has re-energized diving for me. I have log books with thousands of dives logged all over the world from the tropics to the northern lattitudes. Since getting my F/C cert, my log book has started over at dive 1. I am Mr. Noobie, I am eager to learn a better way... if there is one.

CDF probably won't teach me all about cave diving (no matter what Mr. Tedesci says in his signature) but it does prepare me, to some extent, for all the great folks I may run into during my journey to becoming a real cave diver.

    THIS STUFF ROCKS !!
