Does anyone know if a map of charles has ever been made public? I think Ron Simmons may have made one, but I've never seen one.

Hey Cindy,

Ya know, in this day of internet connections and ease of putting stuff up, it'd be really nice to have a digital museum. Basically, a bunch of photographs of equipment, plus a few scans of these older maps. It'd be fascinating to see how far various systems had been pushed back then. When I look at some of the old line in Manatee, I'm just amazed that they got back there with such limited gear.

It would also be a nice way to generate publicity for the museum itself.

I'll offer the first $100 towards setting such a site up - and I'll offer to keep paying it every year for as long as the site stays up.

I was thinking the same thing. A simple wordpress site would make this goal pretty easy. You could "tag" each post with let's say "Devils" and then when a user clicks devils they can see all the other posts with that same tag. You can edit the post dates to reflect the dates these items were created (at least the maps or gear), and then those tags would even show a chronological list.

Would be a pretty simple integration with Walter's site, too, if he were willing. When you click a cave, you could then choose "View History" and be directed to the museum's website, to a search page that shows all of the data for that specific cave.

Wordpress supports photos, videos, etc pretty easily, and I think it'd be a great way to get the content online in a USABLE manner.

I would donate my time to help with this, be it setting up the site or scanning things as needed.

I think Walter is kind of over the web thing. TJ may have taken it over. I have hundreds of old photos, I have old maps, I have a site. I don't have the time or knowledge to put it all together. Can you help? The web site for the museum is www.overheadtimes.com

What I need to do TJ is get the web site for the museum updated. Walter already gave me permission to use the site info for a book we are doing. That was before you got involved I think. Anyway I am not using the maps he has on that site for the museum however I hope you guys have all that backed up on DVD. I want it to last past us or this current technology. Cindy
