    Default Little River - 01/23/10

Went to Little River this morning (01/23)

Turned the dive in the parking lot.
We went over to Peacock instead.

The basin was very tanic and perfectly still.
I couldn't even see the top of the stone wall.
Water covered the bottom 4 steps on the wooden stair (bottom set)

No syphon yet , but with the rate the river rose today (according to the gauge at the NWS and the rain tomorrow (yuck) , it's probably toast now.

My buddy and I didn't want to take a chance. We had NO CLUE how far the tanic was down in the cavern etc.

    Thanks!
    Beano

Good move, it could start to syphon while you were in there....

We were there Friday and while we managed to get a dive in we noticed some tannic water creeping in. The ranger thought it would go in the next day or so.

P.S. For what it's worth, I heard that 40 Fathom would be back open daily/weekly starting Feb 1. We were there today (Sunday) and enjoyed it. (Vis around 40 feet.)
