Hopefully it will be better than Hollywood's lame attempts at making surfing inspired movies. To me this all sounds a bit corny.

The water on the Nullarbor is about 90m below the surface and in this cave a few 100m into the cave. Towards the end of the expedition when hauling gear out, there was a freak storm which dumped inches of rain in a short period of time. The cave doline acted as a bath tub outlet for the surrounding plain and the water poured in causing part of the cave entrance to collapse. Most of the divers were well inside the cave at the lake's edge, and were "trapped" there for 24 hours or more until the cave stopped "moving" and they were able to negotiate a new way out. No-one was hurt

Access to the cave has been "closed" since. A pity because its the best dive out there.
Oops... should have googled him first . maybe it'll be interesting after all!!

Here's a pic of Jill with James Cameron at Ginnie. Wes and Jill took him on his first cave dive and also shot some footage for a Sanctum camera test, trailer and pitch.

    Default Movie Locations

It's too bad that they didn't decide to shoot at least a portion of this new film in Florida but since the story actually took place in Australia, that location makes sense.
There'll be another film shooting in some of our Florida caves at some point, hopefully sooner than later.
I know Ginnie was used for a fairly recent film "Sunshine State," but it was also used in the early 1980's (along with Ichetucknee's Jug Hole) for some cave diving sequences on Sean Connery's last Bond film "Never Say Never Again."
(And then there were all of the various films through the years at Wakulla and Silver Springs.)

    Thanks for the pic!

It's not really a Jim Cameron movie as such, he is just the executive producer. But it sounds like it'll be good 3D - the director says they are shooting for realism.

Wonder how they'll cut & pace the diving sequences with dialogue bits...

Yeah I did some work on, it was a lot of fun. It should be a great flick... no monsters in the cave for once. Can't wait to see it on the big screen.

They plan on showing 12 minutes of this "pitch footage" at the premiere in Gainesville.

    Cool IMHO !

Cameron's production of Avatar was absolutely astonishing & the mear fact that he took an interest in the overhead environment from two of our most prominant leaders & teachers of cave diving speaks for itself ! I have seen brief trailers of Sanctum & it looks to be brillant to say the least. Give Mr. Cameron the high credits he deserves....He pours all of his energy into his films, & I for one as a student of film & television production can appreciate his creativity & efforts !
Granted, even though it appears -A-typical Hollywood movie, it should be fun to watch. The trailers on ABC & NBC say it will be out this February ? I cannot wait !
    CYA !
