Default Caution at Hole in the Wall

The fourth step down from the top of the platform at Hole in the Wall is missing. The two lag bolts which held the step are still in the runners and protruding. Repair should be made by Friday the 15th, until it's fixed exercise caution when using the steps for water entry/exit.

    Jim,
Did you dive while you were there? What were the conditions?

Jeez, aren't those new steps? Who installed them. Shoddy work at best.......

If it's still like that in a week, I'll help ya, but it sounds like it will be done before then.

    Hi Karl,

I didn't dive it, but Edd should know conditions from some who did on Friday.

Ben, we're gonna put some small blocks under each side of the steps for support. I think Pete is gonna help me on Thursday, and then we'll check the cave out.

I dove it a few nights ago and my buddy nearly fell on the step due to it being very loose. So to prevent anyone from falling on the step he ripped it out and placed it on the dock. Good to here someones fixing it.

Dove the upstream and it was patchy with areas of low viss 10' to areas of higher viss 50'.

    Default Repairs completed today.

Pete Bedford and I replaced the loose step which was ripped out.

In the future, if you find something wrong or hazardous at the cave diver platforms on Merritt's Mill Pond, don't make things worse by removing materials. Do report the problem to Cave Adventurers as soon as possible. If you are concerned about other divers being at risk before you can contact Cave Adventurers, leave a wet note page describing the problem.
