Default Conditions @ Peacock & Little River

My wife and I are heading south tomorrow (Wednesday) morning for our New Year's cave trip. Our current plan is to hit Peacock/Orange grove and Little River for 3 days and then head over to Jackson Blue for 3-4 days.

I know some of the areas are getting close to being blown out... just wanted to get a current report to see if maybe we should change our plans and just head over to Marianna for the entire trip. I will admit the CDF Social at JB does sound great!

Thanks in advance for the reports!

Last I heard LR is blown and Peacock is a little tannic but still divable. So if you head that way, plan on spending all 3 days at Peacock. Merritt's Mill Pond is it's usual.

I've heard the same about LR. If you are leaving tomorrow I would spend the time at Marianna - cookout/diving/galaxy dive on Thursday, more diving and fun on Friday - what more could you ask for! I'm trying to head that way but not sure if I'm going to make it.

I stopped by Little River today to take a couple of pictures. The water is over the retaining wall and tannic. It will be awhile before it is diveable.

Peacock is very busy and the vis has been affected by the heavy traffic, but still very diveable.

The viz in P III was 10-15' yesterday, compared to 40-50 ft a few weeks ago. I am not sure if it is just due to flooding or heavy holiday weekend traffic, classes, etc and low flow.

P1 is great - very slightly milky with some tannic intrusion in the nickolson tunnel and in a couple spots the waterhole tunnel.

The orange grove basin is severe clear with only about 50% duckweed coverage. The orange grove to challenge tunnel was clear as well as the distance tunnel.

Peacock is very busy, but I saw little traffic in the smaller offshoot tunnels - but if you go there, please have the skills to so it without screwing up the viz or the cave floor. From the damage I have been seeing in there, just being full cave apparently has nothing to do with having the ability to not contact the cave. So if you are full cave, but still suck, stay in the big tunnels.

As noted above, LR is toast.
