No CDF New Year's Social this year.

It pains me to announce that due to the uncertainty of the state of the caves in Cave Country we are having to cancel the New Year's Day Social that we had planned for Ginnie Springs Outdoors.

TJ will still be at Ginnie on December 31, and a group of regulars are planning to have a Galaxy Dive in the Ginnie Ballroom. Anyone that wants to attend, bring your own dinner to cook around the campfire, or just show up after you eat, and enjoy the "light show" as you ring in the new year underwater. However, the all-day social that we had anticipated for Friday will not happen.

On the other hand, there will be a group of divers at Jackson Blue Spring in Marianna all day Thursday, enjoying free entry and diving, a big cookout, and a Galaxy Dive of their own, compliments of Cave Adventurers and the Jackson County Department of Parks and Recreation.

On Friday, a few members of the CDF staff will be present at Jackson Blue, and we invite friends to join us for another day of free entry and diving, again compliments of Cave Adventurers and the Jackson County Department of Parks and Recreation. There won't be a huge cookout, but Forrest and I will have hot dogs and chips and drinks and stuff, so anyone is invited until we run out of food.

We thank all divers who had previously volunteered to bring stuff for our originally planned social, and remember that we'll be having another one in just a few months!

The Wakulla County Dive Club will also be having its monthly meeting at the Pavilion at 8pm. And I will be bringin underwater and topside video cameras to film the midnight "fire" works.
