Default Petition to open up Olsen for diving...

So, hanging around at cave country this weekend... Noticed a petition sitting on the counter at Dive Outpost gathering signatures to open up formal access and facilities at Olsen sink in Peacock...

I'm curious what is motivating this petition....

Is there something not having access at Olsen people are finding limiting?

It would seem much of the Florida bunch can't make a dive unless there are stairs, handrails, and gearing-up tables.

I like Olsen the way it is.

Opening it as an access would allow a lot of traffic into parts of Peacock that are now at least a little bit protected from excessive traffic by distance from an entry point.

At the time when Olsen closed many instructors missed having another entrance to teach to use,but it was a difficult entrance and exit. I personally used Olsen for when I was doing the source tunnel, but now I just plan my gas differently, and don't miss the site.

I have been working hard on this interpretive trail that is being installed, and have come to understand some of the rationale behind things that occur. Without a long discussion, access to Olsen will not happen anytime soon.

Glad to hear it, Kelly. Rather than teach another entrance to the same darn tunnel the instructors should do their students a real service and take them to another system so they can teach another entrance, another tunnel, another site access, conditions, etc.

    What he said!

Show me the petition to leave Olsen just the way it is and I'll sign that one!
